EXCERPTS TAKEN FROM A MINI CASE STUDY OF TRAUMA/ SEPSIS
Scenario: Nick is a 21 year old male, who was on his way to work , when he became involved in a head on collision. Someone called 911 and paramedics arrived on scene, to resuscitate him. IN THE OPERATING ROOM Nick was taken to surgery emergently. An exploratory laparotomy and bowel repair was performed. He also received 2 units of blood . He was later transferred to the ICU, in stable condition. Nick did not require any any surgical intervention for his pelvic fracture. Bedrest and physical therapy would however be necessary. HOW DID NICK PROGRESS IN THE ICU? An overview of the responsibilities of the ICU nurses is included above. The care plan will reflect the potential problems and updated as needed.
