WHY A BLOOD TRANSFUSION?


Why is a blood transfusion done?
Blood transfusion may be ordered by the doctor for a number of reasons. These include:
- Trauma (like a femur fracture) resulting in massive blood loss and leading to Hypovolemic shock
- Anemias, such as aplastic and iron deficiency
- Thrombocytopenia and other blood disorders
